Inspired by the efficient shapes found in nature, the Alpha redefines all-mountain fluency. Glide effortlessly through pow, slice clean lines down the trails or thread the needle on your favourite tree-run; it’s all about flow. A 3D spooned nose provides maximum float and smooth turn initiation, while the subtle pinch at the rear of the sidecut helps it to sink in deep snow. This is the go-to deck for creative mountain surfers like Mat Crepel.
  • Our Surfy CamRock profile is spring-loaded between the feet but extends the nose rocker to help the Alpha mow down bumps and plow through deep snow with ease.
  • The Alpha's 3D spooned nose and pinched-in tail give the board incredible glide and natural float.
  • The core is made from a blend of poplar and paulownia, with carbon inlays at the nose and tail for super lively response.

Really good daily driver

Really good daily driver. Very surfy feel. This board shines on every surface. Not a hard snow/icy specialist, but still do the job. The only thing I would say is don’t be shy to size up a bit because as an advanced rider 5’6 and 175 pound my 153 feels a bit soft when I push it hard.

Buy with confidence! You won’t be disappointed.

First impressions

I just got the board so I only had one full day on it, but during that day I went through all sorts of conditions, deep pow, sections of groomers and tight woods.
I found that the Alpha floats super well in deep snow, super stable on the groomers, I found myself going 10km/h faster on this board than on my old one.
When the trees are tight, It may not be as nimble as I would like, but it may just be a matter of getting used to the length of the board.

Overall, I am super satisfied.

Nidecker Alpha 148

Well, I wrote a review here raving about the Beta 157. I loved it so much that I told my wife that riding boards that are maybe 4-6 cm longer than what she usually rides will have more benefits than downsides and showed her the Alpha 148.

She is roughly 5'3", and about 125lbs with size 7.5 feet.

After reading about it, and watching a couple of reviews, she decided to go for it, and literally on the first heel turn yelled "I LOVE THIS BOARD!" :)

The Alpha has instantly become her #1 board in her 3-board quiver.

So far a great all mountain ride

So far a great all mountain ride, does well in deep powder and trees, a little slow out of the wrapper so a good wax will help, not super stable at high speed carving either, the APX might cure that though.
