Step into the Future

Our flagship boot dials up the stiffness for serious all mountain performance. Constructed around an asymmetrical upper that conforms perfectly to your foot and calf, the Index is brimming with future tech including a top-of-the-line BOA® Fit System and our unique Internal Heel Lock. The revolutionary wraparound liner delivers next-level comfort and a heat-moldable fit, while seamless construction, an ArmorTech toe and upgraded Storm Cover provide shelter from the harshest elements.
  • The Index features our exclusive Diamond Level liner. Made from state-of-the-art memory foam, it delivers a secure, custom fit with more consistent forward flex.
  • A Vibram Approach outsole offers best-in-class grip on hard snow and ice – perfect for scrambling on ridgelines, hiking the pipe or just navigating a sketchy parking lot.
  • The Index is constructed with fewer stitches to prevent water ingress. Its Transition Zone tech seamlessly connects the sole to the Exo Spine, accelerating response and preventing damage to the back of the boot when entering or exiting the binding.

Tech Details

  • CLOSURE SYSTEM

    Dual BOA®

Dual BOA® technology provides quick, precise lace adjustments via two independent dials. Each controls a distinct boot zone, delivering a custom fit in seconds.

  • BOA® Fit System

    H4 Coiler

Ready for anything, designed to withstand. The bombproof BOA® H4 Coiler is built for the most demanding riders and resists impacts from park to pow. Its efficient mechanism rapidly takes up lace slack, increasing speed of entry.

  • HEEL LOCK

    Internal Heel Lock

The BOA® side-dial controls an internal harness connected to the shell and tongue, delivering incredible three-dimensional foot hold with minimal heel lift.

  • OUTSOLE

    Vibram Approach

Our premium outsole combines full EVA midsole cushioning with an OC-Kush heel insert for outstanding comfort. The Vibram® ICE-TREK tread is made from a rubber compound especially developed for winter conditions, delivering exceptional grip.

  • INSOLE

    3D Triple Density

Our premium 3D insole uses triple-density EVA to cradle your foot. Firm support at the heel cup and arch combines with a high-rebound heel layer, while a fleece-lined footbed with silicone print adds warmth and grip.

  • FEATURES

    BOA®

The industry standard in speed lacing systems. Micro-adjustable for a precise fit and engineered to perform in the toughest conditions.

  • FEATURES

    Thinsulate™

The benchmark in lightweight thermal insulation, developed by the experts at 3M.

  • FEATURES

    Vibram

Based in Italy and with over 80 years of experience, Vibram is the world leader in high-performance rubber soles.

Extras

  • 3D Molded Tongue

Our asymmetric 3D Molded Tongue features a sharper curve on the medial side to match your natural forefoot shape. This design minimizes pressure points and delivers more balanced comfort and support than a traditional straight tongue.

  • Asym 3F

A unique asymmetrical design co-developed with BOA® for balanced support and flex. The tongue's lace guides are positioned over flatter forefoot areas for even closure and reduced pressure points. Enhanced medial arch support fights foot fatigue.

  • Custom Calf

Velcro wings at the back of the shell can be adjusted to accommodate bigger calves and gain extra stride length when splitboarding.

  • Exo Spine

An external backstay that supports the whole boot and transfers energy instantly from heel to toe. It connects seamlessly to the outsole via our Transition Zone™, so you won't hook up on the binding's heelcup when you enter or exit your binding.

  • OC Kush

Shock-absorbing dynamic gel pads are inserted into the outsole around the heel area. This extra cushioning helps you soak up heavy landings and reduces fatigue from bumpy snow, as well as making your boots super comfy to walk around in.

  • Space Blanket

A thermal insulation barrier between the outsole and the bottom of the liner keeps the warmth inside and the cold outside.

  • Storm Cover

A water-resistant PU/mesh cover with zipper. The Storm Cover helps keep feet dry for long days in deep snow conditions and features a 3D engineered knit that closely hugs the boot. Stretchable material at the top eases closure.

The plug ski boot equivalent.

This version of the index is very stiff & firm. It's like a 140-150 flex race level plug ski boot. I had to pull significant slack in the forefoot lacing just to get my foot in the boot. Two sections of velcro on either side of the diamond liner tongue overlap on the outside offering a perfect spot for the tibia, then the side boa pulls the heel into place, then the front boa holds it all together, & then there's a powerstrap! The storm cover is a great feature for lace longevity as it protects all lower lacing from impact & abrasion. Two velcro tabs at the rear of the shell can be loosened for walking & hiking. These boots excel at transmitting your intentions to the board with zero heel lift & excellent directional support, while also providing enough comfort & warmth for all day riding.

Hey there,

thanks for sharing such a detailed review! We're glad the Index Men boots meet your high-performance needs and appreciate the features you highlighted.

Happy shredding!

Ultra stiff. Ultra performance boot. True to soze but insanely difficult to get on at first. So much so that i almost pulled a muscle just getting into them. Once you are in though, these things are what you want for carving hard, or stiff off piste steeps. Great liners. Definitely heat mold them. If you think, “ill just break them in myself” you are not going to have a good time. Stiffest boot on the market with this high of comfort though and no heel lift with the unique heel boa feel. If heel lift is a worry for you, it wont be in these. Slightly bigger shell than the Kita/APX but worth it for the better boot imo. I pair with NX2 to minimize bootout and go double posi on a 288mm waist board. If you want to carve or bomb chutes and ride hard. This is your boot. If you want to ankle steer and do flatground butters etc, you probably want a softer boot.

Very stiff boot

Very stiff boot, takes a while to break in. For the aggressive rider

Hi Pedro,
Thanks for the feedback! The Index Men is built for those who want maximum power and response — well worth the break-in period. Glad it's found the right rider.
See you on the slopes,

this boot is for hard chargers

this boot is for hard chargers in carving mode!!
I love it! i molde the liner and for the first time it was a little uncomfortable to put on , but after 2-3 uses it was super! I love the strap also and the secure feeling that gave to me.

Hey Dimitrios,
Thanks for the great feedback! The Index Men is definitely built for those who like to push hard on their edges — stoked to hear it's delivering that locked-in feeling once the liner broke in.
See you on the snow,

Foot doesn’t fit

These boots seem legit. When I first bought them (preseason), I tried them on and they were slightly snug. No big deal. I just went to the mountain for the first time today and I couldn’t get my foot into the boot! The heel grab tech is too bulbous to allow your foot any wiggle room. I have high arches and feel like this must be the culprit. I have no idea how I got my foot into these boots when I first bought them. I ended up using my regular shoes on the mountain today instead. Nidecker, how the heck am I supposed to squeeze my foot in? I’ve loosened everything possible on these boots and still nothing. I am so sad I’m beyond the return period

Hey Brennan,

It sounds like those high arches might be making the internal heel tech a bit of a challenge. Please shoot us an email so we can see if there’s a way to help you with the fit or find a solution!

Comfortable and responsive

I got these boots after wearing out my Burton’s, and so glad I did! They’re great looking boots and the quality is apparent. At first, I could barely get my feet in them because they’re so stiff but after I heat molded the liners it was a lot easier.
I’ve had one day on the mountain so far and love them. They were super comfortable all day and the heel locking boa system is amazing. The stiffness made for less work when I was making turns, and they’re crazy responsive which is great in tight tree runs.
Well worth the money in my opinion, I know I’ll be riding mine for several years. Well done Nidecker!

Hi Dave!

We're thrilled to hear that you find them comfortable and responsive, and that you were able to easily get them heat molded for an even better fit. We're glad that they've held up well during your time on the mountain and that you appreciate the heel locking boa system. We strive to make high-quality products that will last for years, and we're so happy that you'll be riding in your Nidecker boots for a long time to come.
Thanks again for your support and happy shredding!

The boots fit large (lengthwise) but are of very high quality

The boots fit large (lengthwise) but are of very high quality. I sized down vs other brands but still fear I might have too much length once the liner fully breaks in. I don't think I could size down further as it too tight width wise on my pinky toes as well as volume (height) on the front of the foot but the liner has packed out in these areas so the boots are now comfortable in my thinnest socks. Still can't comfortably wear my slightly thicker socks but we might get there as I get more days. Currently at 6 days, getting more comfortable every day.

Heel lock is great, don't need to use the heel lock boa unless it's very steep or tight. The heel lock boa is uncomfortable on the ankle when cinched down but such is the price we pay for performance... Fine on groomers without it.

The stiffness is good, stiff but still has some give.

The power strap is of great quality & I'm hopeful it'll take some of the pressure off the main boa as I've experienced all BOA's start to loosen off after ~50 days once the boot is well broken in from the forces even if it's all replaced via warranty. Ie. I'm "hopeful" the power strap will reduce the force on the boa, giving it more life once the boots well broken in.

Dear customer,

Thank you for your detailed review of our Index Men boots. We appreciate your feedback and are glad to hear that you are finding the boots to be of high quality.

We understand your concern about the fit and sizing. Our sizing does differ from other brands, but we are confident that with some more wear, the boots will become even more comfortable for you. We suggest trying thicker socks as the boots continue to break in.

We are happy to hear that the heel lock is working well for you and providing the necessary performance on steep and tight terrain. The stiffness of the boots is also designed to provide support while still allowing for some flexibility.

Regarding the power strap, we believe it will indeed help reduce the pressure on the main boa and prolong its life. We are always striving to improve our products and appreciate your suggestion.

Thank you for choosing Index Men and we hope you continue to enjoy them for many more days on the slopes.

High quality boot.

Boot is very much ahead of the competition in terms of build. The liner is like they actually put a thought into it. Pretty beefy. The foam it self is thicker than most Burton & Thirty Two shells. Shell is near TPU/Hardboot stiff. Should be great for sidehill on the splitty or charging pass skoolers in the frozen chunder. Hopefully, retains it shape and flex better than a pair of Ions/Drivers. One feedback is I wish Nidecker come with a version of their Diamond liner that can accept refillable cork pockets like zipfits to give shredders a more customized fit. Also, semi-auto crampon soles.

Hi there!

We hope that the stiffness of the shell will serve you well this winter. We'll definitely take your feedback about the Diamond liner and semi-auto crampon soles into consideration for future versions.

Probably the best boot I have had on my feet.

43 year old expert snowboarder, snowboarding 30+ years. Needed a stiff powerful boot. This one is it. Not only that, its super comfy. Took a little to break them in, but so did my driver X.

Index 2024

Bought the Index to further advance my carving. Insane control and direct feedback - highly recommended!

One Note: i suggest wearing the boots around the house for a couple of days before you hit the slopes for the first time to enhance comfort.

Impressive boots

I love the feel of the new liner but miss the shape of the old one from last season, with the wrap around feel.
The boot itself is perfectly built and the quality feels amazing.
The only thing I would say is that the boot got a bit narrow compared to the last couple of version including the talon. After heat molding the liner and the shell I can finally ride it.
Impressive boots, this coming from a full cert snowboard instructor.

Perfect boots for carving

These boots are as stiff as my hard-boot I used toi have. Combine with my Thruster board and StepMatic, wow!
I would really want to add the carbon bindings but not available in my size.
I already got many comments from people interested to know what I'm riding :)
Great job Nidecker.

Impressive fit and stiffness.

I just had my first days on the 2024-25 model. Ive always ridden stiff boots (and also hardboots), and im blown away by these. I even wondered if they wouldnt be too stiff when I tried them on in the shop. Had to get used to precision on the first few runs, but the response is incredible. Obviously like any boot theyll soften a bit and be perfect, so I hope that Ill be able to get more seasons out of them.

The fit is absolutely insane for my foot. I have a medium to narrow foot with a low instep, and I have never felt as locked-in as in these. No heel lift or movement whatsoever, and thats because of both the liner and the heel lock. I am probably never switching boot brands again.

Bravo Nidecker!

Huge improvement

I have ridden the Index 2022/2023 model. Very happy with the boot, comfortable, warm, super easy to slip in/out. Excellent for piste as well as freeride. But it had some minor flaws - the flap material is very weak, the rubber sole gets easily damaged, the 10/10 flex is rather 8/10. The new Index appears to have resolved all that. The flap is now made of more rugged material and the flex is indeed 10/10. Time will tell how comfortable the boot is, but the pre-season "dry" tests at home are promissing.

Seriously impressive boot. My issue is that its actually too stiff for me. Which I never thought I'd say, coming from hard-boots. However it still gets 5 stars as they are supposed to be super stiff. I just wasnt aware that 10/10 was legit, it is. I notice some guy in review saying they are more an 8/10 stiffness.. I can assure you thats incorrect.
I do find the boots are great with my much tamer snowboards, and the boots simply liven up my old noodly boards. But when I get on my Rome Commissioner, holy **** sticks! The boots are just to stiff and they make the board even more twitchy. Nothing against the boots though, I just cant handle the truth!(lol)
walking comfort is great. they are so quick on and off, and they are warm, but if anything get sweat logged a bit easily compared to my vans.

Mallory P.
Not stiff enough

Major stiffness downgrade from the Nidecker Talons, a boot I loved dearly. These boots are perfectly comfortable, they just aren't stiff enough. That's my only complaint. I'd say they are like an 8/10 instead of a 10/10. I can feel major ankle flexion when performing deep toeside carves.

Amazing

Top quality. The fit is smooth like butter. The heel lock Is phenomenal. Really glad I decided to get these.

Generally a good product

The inner lining folds over itself and that seemed to give me a mild pressure point. I cant complain too much but also with the inner liner would tighten more uniformly. Its hard to find the balance between too loose and numb feet but well made and generally thought out in design.
