Key Features

As well as growing the Biomimicry Series to include the Gamma, we’re also introducing the Gamma APX. One of the most unique boards we’ve ever created, this freestyle twin takes concepts we’ve learned from nature and mutates them into a shape to inspire creativity all over the mountain. It’s a true twin with a difference: symmetrical nose to tail but asymmetrical from edge to edge. As turns take more force to initiate on your heel edge, we’ve made this sidecut tighter than the toe edge, so whilst the board may look uneven, it actually balances your ride equally toe-to-heel. Coupled with a positive profile for better carving control and more pop, the Gamma floats in the deep and holds its line on hardpack, both ways. First developed for the Alpha and Beta, we’ve brought over our 3D-shaped Evolution Spoon Nose, now on a twin shape for the first time. At the nose, it gives a unique rolling sensation whilst transitioning between turns as well as added float in soft snow. At the tail it gives a new, looser connection whilst buttering or jamming out slashes, but the edges re-engage with pin sharp precision as soon as you lean it over. The APX version comes with a faster, harder wearing N-9000 base and dual carbon stringers on either side of the core for more pop and reactivity, but what really sets it apart is the Nidactive APX edge technology. This places the core directly over the edge, which not only looks like nothing else, but actually increases the force you can exert from your bindings, making this an agile, adaptive and engaging riding experience. The Gamma is for freestyle focused riders who want to take skills honed in the park to the rest of the mountain. Think spinning in and out of pillow lines, finding new lines through natural halfpipes and shaping slushy hits in the spring. It’s a unique board, made for unique experiences.
  • Surf Rail construction combines a thinner sidewall with a core that extends right over the edge; it's a beautiful-looking design that makes the Beta APX feel more agile and hold a turn like it's on rails.
  • The 3D Evolution nose and tail has a spoon shape that smooths turn entry and helps the board surf through deep snow, crud and slush.
  • Full-length carbon inlays give the Gamma APX explosive ollie power and reinforce the flex for hitting bigger features.

Very beautiful board

Very beautiful board, i get a compliment every now and then from friends and strangers, haha.
I bought the 159 wide.
Compared to my previous board Capita DOA (156 not wide) it feels a little bit heavier and bulkier, but also kind of mightier when its on the edge.
I like it. Its definitly more a charger then the DOA and thats what i aimed for. It takes a little more effort to get on the edge and to do short, swifty turns. But i like that. Little bit more stiff and a little less pop i think. But overall a really good board 👍🏽

Thanks Alexander, we really appreciate the detailed feedback!

Stoked to hear the Gamma APX is hitting the vibe you were looking for, mighty on the edge, solid for charging, and earning compliments along the way. That extra stiffness is exactly what gives it that stable, powerful feel. Glad it’s delivering overall and matching your riding goals.

Good board, just a little narrow.

Got a 157 and I just ever so slightly get boot drag with a 10.5 boot on full tilt. With that being said, it can really hold down a carve. Board has good energy and goes from edge to edge very smooth and quick (thanks to the softer/spooned tail / nose).

Although the board is very agile, I just wish it had some more width. 4/5 stars.

Hi there,

Thank you for your review of the Gamma APX board. We're glad to hear that you find it to be a good board with great energy and agility. We understand that the narrowness may be a bit of a concern for you, especially with your boot size, but we're happy to hear that it still holds a good carve. We appreciate your feedback and will definitely take it into consideration for future improvements. Happy shredding!

aggressive 200lbs 6ft union contact pro Solomon synapsesz10

aggressive 200lbs 6ft union contact pro Solomon synapsesz10, i'm guessing the regular gamma woulda been fine. excellent float nose design you dont even notice the extended camber up there, very nicely done. the apx deck loves to rip, a bit stiff out of the gate but at speed is rock solid and shines! keeper for sure.

Hi there!

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review for the Gamma Apx. We're so glad to hear that you're enjoying the aggressive design and float nose feature.

Happy shredding!

Playful charger of a board

First new board in almost 20 yrs. Was used to riding a twin in the park, but being over 30 at this point and leaning more toward free-ride and wanting to charge, the added stiffness and base makes this thing fly. Still a twin so riding switch feels true and provides some confidence off side hits. No doubt anyone really spending time in the park would be all set on this. With the conditions up in the northeast, really digging the tighter heel-side edge for carving hold and the board definitely still playful enough for butters and messing around.

Hey Jeff,

Charging the Northeast on a Gamma APX is the way to do it! Glad that tighter heel-side edge is giving you the carving confidence you need.

Love this board

Only got to ride it two days so far because I bought it so late in the season. But those two days were probably the best days of riding I had all season even with the bad end of season conditions will ride this board until it breaks.

This board.... oh my god

The second I strapped in I was amazed. I stood in line for hours, and didn't even get a run in that day. It was still the best day ive ever had on the mountain. I want 7 of these for each day of the week. Oh my goodness this board.

Nidecker Gamma APX All in One board

At first it was more of a trial that prompted me to buy the Gamma APX. As a precaution, I bought a second board for the winter. The end of the story is that the board I originally favoured is still in its quiver and I ride the Gamma APX both in powder and on the piste.
It's a mega playful board that's perfect for buttering, carving and powdering. The edge hold is sensational and the board also forgives small mistakes when buttering.
What's more, it simply has style.

This blew my mind after 2 turns..

I recently got my hands on the 157 APX version which is the biggest board that I've ridden for all-mountain purposes in like, forever. The middle of the board felt strong and slightly stiff which made me nervous for some reason. I've never ridden a board like this but the shape intrigued me. Well, let me tell you.. it did not disappoint. This snowboard instantly exceeded expectations and it's now my daily snowboard for everything even the park, in fact, I ride each day with it in the park and if it snows then I put it in the powder. I can't fault it, I'll have another, please.
